"I had been on the NSS email list for a while, and when the January Jump Start program came around I knew it was time to jump in.
I have always been an active person, and over the last few years I have really grown to love running. However, I have always done things on my own, and seemed to have hit a wall with progress, falling short of where I knew I could be. Also, I had been struggling with some back and leg pain due to my desk job of sitting/standing in one place all day. I was in desperate need of some new ideas and somebody or a group to help hold me accountable.
My workday has become easier physically, due to my strengthened posture and better muscle balance. My running endurance has improved, and I feel stronger and tighter on the road and trails. My mood has improved as well. When you feel better physically it naturally carries happiness into your day, and adds confidence to how you carry yourself.
NSS is a fun environment filled with coaches who genuinely care about you, your goals, and your progress. NSS is everything it is advertised to be and more. Awesome coaches + technique + hard work=goals met and exceeded!
I appreciate the attention to detail and the care put in by my coach, to ensure I master each new skill brought to my sessions. Seems to be something new every other week, and it's fun to always be learning and building to something bigger. The flexibility to use other coaches when schedules have to change is really appreciated!
The environment of NSS is great! This is a welcoming community to all ages, shapes, sizes, etc. Any given day you may see young kids training, average Joes, elite athletes, or your grandma.
Besides the personal physical improvements, it has been great to meet like-minded individuals who share a competitive fire for personal improvement and the true compassion of helping others meet their goals. Make no mistake, besides the smiling faces of my kids when I come home from work (which hopefully lasts for a few more years) NSS is the best part of my day!
For someone thinking about starting with NSS, I would say tomorrow is not guaranteed. Stop thinking about it and just do it. If you are worried about it not being for you, you can always quit (but I bet you won't once you try it out)."
