Jan began her journey with NSS in October 2009. She walked in the doors with some success already under her belt, having completed a walk to run program and successfully dropping weight. The increase in her energy and endurance had Jan excited to “take it to the next level”.
Over the years Jan has demonstrated both consistency and perseverance. Initially many of the various movements and techniques were challenging or sometimes not possible at the time. Instead of becoming discouraged with the particular task at hand Jan displayed a resilience that is worth noting. Coming back day after day, week after week, doing whatever it was that she could. The focus has nearly always been on working within her limits to expand her limits (and occasionally testing those limits!). Knowing that the demands of both her profession and personal life would not allow for her to have physical setbacks due to her workouts.
Through her consistency and perseverance Jan has been able to accomplish some amazing feats. Displaying both grace and strength in kettlebell, barbell, and bodyweight movements and taking ownership for how her body is feeling and what she can do to put it in a position for success.
Beyond the daily physical workouts Jan has developed a keen awareness for realizing what is realistic vs. unrealistic and is continuously learning how to leverage her advantages, while minimizing some of the challenges that she comes into contact with. Learning how to involve her support community of family, friends, and coworkers in her workouts and developing strategies to help make it easier for her to make successful choices in her daily schedule, allows Jan to reap the benefits of living the health and fitness lifestyle that she ever so diligently pursues.
Congratulations Jan, keep up the spectacular work!!
