Kathy has been a stunning example of consistency since starting her training at NSS in 2011. Truly a staple in the 5:30 a.m. group, she has set the bar high not only as someone who has made her health and fitness a priority in her life, but also willing to learn to listen to her body along the way. She understands that there are days when forcing a long run or a heavy lift is not worth the risk, especially if it means not being able to do what she loves to do week in and week out, which is be active without restrictions.
Kathy displays some truly staggering strength achievements, including but not limited to: 220# barbell deadlift, 135# barbell front squat x 4, 185# x 5 barbell RDL, and 10 reps of either ring pull-ups or chin-ups. These numbers speak for themselves as to how well-rounded her fitness is, besides the fact that she also enjoys early-morning runs anywhere from 2-3 times a week and usually fits in at least a couple of races each year.
It is hard to put a finger on just when or how Kathy has accomplished each of those feats of strength, but when you see her in the gym it quickly becomes apparent. She approaches each of her lifts with a cool, calm demeanor. There is no flash or showmanship, simply a woman who has cultivated an impressive collection of abilities and skills because she has a made the consistent pursuit of “better” a priority.
There is no clearer example of this than if you were to look at the amount of effort she puts into perfecting her technique in both the push-up and pull-up. These are two lifts that she displays great strength in but is constantly seeking to truly master.
Congratulations Kathy on be selected as the NSS February 2016 Client of the Month, and thank you for being an amazing example as a member of the #NSSfamily.
