6 Reasons to Supplement Protein
You’ve seen the colorful tubs full of protein in the gym, along with gas stations and grocery stores that have aisles full of protein bars...but WHY?
The way we see it, with all goals - from losing weight, better performance, feeling good, building muscle, and every other goal in between - we most often do not get enough protein.
The list can go on and on when it comes to the value points of getting additional protein.
> Easy to keep low-calorie
> High feeling of fullness
> High-protein diets are associated with lower body fat %
> Easy to store, transport, and prepare
> Can use to replace high sugar / high fat foods
But let’s go back to the fact that protein supplementation can aid in getting to our goals with fewer calories. Protein is a low-calorie option with high nutritional value, making it a great "go-to" for losing weight.
Protein comes in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. Some even come with delicious surprises like cookie crumbles, making it an amazing way to curb those sweet cravings.
Having lots of flavors to choose from can make protein powder a great quick snack to throw in a shaker cup with water, milk, or milk substitute of your choice, which, like we mentioned in the value points, will leave you feeling full until your next meal.
Saving the best for last: one of protein’s greatest values is CONVENIENCE.
Protein supplements have a giant family including bars, chips, pancake mix, and powders (flavored and unflavored), but that is just scratching the surface. So many options make it an easy way to get in at any time of day or night.
It is easy to transport because of handy packaging. It’s also unbelievably easy to add protein to a meal by sprinkling some flavorless powder into our recipe while preparing, and in some recipes can even be used as flour replacements in baking.
Lastly, with such convenient packaging and servings counted by scoops, it is simple to track, leaving you the ability to know exactly how many grams of protein, fats, and carbs you are getting with each scoop or bar.
